It is important to select the correct type of alloy for the water you will be boating in to prevent expensive repairs. This ensures your boat will be properly protected and your underwater metals will not be corroded and damaged over time. It is important to note that there are two types of corrosion: Galvanic and Electrolytic. If you are experiencing corrosion and a thorough examination by a professional determines that your anodes are in place, are of the correct type, and are connected through a proper bonding system, consult your local professional to determine if electrolytic corrosion could be the problem. Electrolytic corrosion is caused by stray current in the water around your vessel and could be caused by your vessel, your neighbor's vessel, or the shorepower on the dock itself.
